Starting a YouTube channel is an exciting venture. But if you want people to actually come, watch and interact with your content then you need a plan. That plan should be to create a custom, branded YouTube Channel. You can achieve this rather easily. Below I explain what you need to do and provide step-by-step tutorial videos as well. I also share my done-for-you channel kits to make this the easiest thing you will do today!
Your Banner, Profile Pic/Logo & Video Watermark
Your first step will be to go to your YouTube Studio then select Customization then select Branding. Here you can upload your banner, profile pic or logo and a video watermark.
The banner (also called channel art), is what is seen across the top of your channel. For the best results on all devices, use an image that’s at least 2048 x 1152 pixels and 6MB or less.
Your profile picture or logo will appear where your channel is presented on YouTube, like next to your videos and comments. It’s recommended to use a picture that’s at least 98 x 98 pixels and 4MB or less. Use a PNG or GIF (no animations) file. Make sure your picture follows the YouTube Community Guidelines.
Lastly, the watermark will appear on your videos in the right-hand corner of the video player. An image that’s 150 x 150 pixels is recommended. Use a PNG, GIF (no animations), BMP, or JPEG file that’s 1MB or less.

Next, Thumbnails
Thumbnails are the images for the videos that you upload. Select or upload a picture that shows what’s in your video. A good thumbnail stands out and draws viewers’ attention.
To upload your thumbnail you must first upload your video, then under Video Details you can choose to upload your own thumbnail. This image needs to explain the video or be enticing to viewers.
And Finally, Intros and End Screens (Outros)
Intro screens are what plays the first few seconds of your videos and brands the video as “yours”. It can introduce your channel, highlight what you cover, highlight you, anything really.
End screens, also called outros, are exactly as they sound – the end screen at the end of a video. Usually it includes encouraging viewers to watch other videos on your channel or gets them to subscribe to your channel.
These intros and end screens continue to build a cohesive look to your channel and create a branded experience for your viewers.
